Flow: Apple's Animation Secret Weapon

Apple's high-quality, scroll-tied animations on their product promo pages are powered by a technology they call Flow. Flow uses a custom, lossless intra-frame diff based sequence compression algorithm to prepare assets and reconstruct them on the fly in the browser upon page load, significantly reducing the weight of a full image sequence and enabling more and longer sequences to be used.

Performant 3D on the web

I discuss the process of creating performant 3D web experiences using tools like Blender, Three.js, and React Three Fiber. I highlighted the importance of WebGL2, GLTFs, and WebAssembly in enhancing the performance and capabilities of 3D experiences on the web. I also demonstrated how to use these tools to create a 3D car configurator, emphasizing the benefits of using React for componentization and the ease of sharing and prototyping ideas using CodeSandbox.

Food-ID

I've proposed a solution, Food-ID, to combat food waste by creating an extensible data standard for food metadata, including expiration dates, ingredients, and production info. This system uses RFID technology and a standardized date format to track food items individually, providing a platform for innovation and product creation in the marketplace, and allowing both producers and consumers to save money by more effectively tracking food as it makes its way to the plate.
